Wasilla resident Jason Carl Covey, 29, died July 3, 2010.
There will be a public viewing at 1 p.m. today with a funeral service directly following at 2 p.m. at King’s Chapel, 1701 Lucille St. in Wasilla. Interment will immediately follow at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Jason was born on Jan. 25, 1981 in Anchorage to Carl and Karin (Fish) Covey.
He had a good life growing up in Wasilla. He was so bright and loved his family dearly. He loved to play in the great outdoors with his bike, scooters, motorcycles, cars, boats and wheelers. He became a journeyman plumber by trade, but he was gifted in multiple skills. A genius with his computers and electronics, he liked to make things work. He played the guitar, could sing and his latest favorite recreational activity was playing American Idol with his family.
Jason married Lorna May on Dec. 5 2004. He was a family man with three daughters and was anticipating the birth of a son in October.
He had just returned to work at Slayden Plumbing and was so happy to be back.
Jason was preceded in death by grandfather Vernon Fish and cousin Merle Fish.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna Covey, and daughters Zoe Jane, Emma Marie and Jaylee May; parents Carl and Karin Covey; siblings Bobby Doisher, Karla Douthit, Eli Doisher, Sara Haase, Aaron Doisher, Carmen Covey and Cara Covey. He is also survived by grandparents Emma Fish, John Covey and Peggy Eveland; uncles Mark Fish, Alan Fish, Gordon Fish, Paul Covey and John Covey Jr.; aunties Karen Peterson, Kathy Sleen and Candace Robbecke; nephews Damien, Bobby, Derek and Dylan Doisher, and Donovan and Jonathan Douthit; nieces Elissa, Victoria and Stormy Doisher, Crystal and Gabrielle Good, Kameo Douthit, and Izzabelle Benton; cousins Joshua Covey, Alex, Randall, Valorie and Thomas Fish, April Berry and Amber Frost.
All family and friends are devastated by this loss.
A memorial fund has been established for his children at Alaska USA. Donations can be made to the Jason Covey Memorial Fund in person or by telephone.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
