Jay D. Wickham

Jay D. Wickham passed away September 7, 2020 at the Palmer Veterans & Pioneers Home in Palmer. He was 85 years old. No services—per his request.

Jay was born August 17, 1935 to Earl and Christina Wickham in Marshalltown, Iowa. Jay married his high school sweetheart, Millie, on August 20, 1955, and they enjoyed 65 years of wedded bliss together.

Their son, Gregory Jay, was born in 1960. Greg and his wife, Patty, gave Jay and Millie three amazing grandchildren: Andrew, Lauren, and Kristina.

Jay was a helper for Santa Claus for many years and made thousands of wooden toys, which he handed out during the holiday seasons at many Mat-Su libraries.

If you thought you would have sent flowers to Jay’s funeral, he would prefer you send the money in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Shriners Hospital for Children. He would be pleased to have helped a child.

Jay is survived by his wife Millie; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Patty; and three grandkids Andrew, Lauren, and Kristina. He also leaves 4 nieces in Iowa, Dianne, Teri, Tami, and Tracy.
