EAGLE RIVER — Jazzy Gourmet Popcorn owner Cedric Roland is busily making preparations for the 2022 Alaska State Fair season. He said they’ve had the opportunity to participate as a vendor for several years and he looks forward to returning to Alaska’s largest seasonal venue, a place highly sought after by small business owners.
“I think it’s a great opportunity if you can get in,” Roland said with a laugh.
Jazzy Gourmet Popcorn is based out of Eagle River and features an additional location at the Ted Stevens Airport. Roland said they currently have over 80 different flavors and even offer custom orders.
“If you can dream it, we can make it,” Roland said.
Roland said that he’s excited to bust out new flavors at this year’s Alaska State Fair. He said they mix it up every season.
“We don’t stay the same. I want to keep people guessing,” Roland said.
The Jazzy Gourmet Popcorn booth at the Fair will be located along the Purple Trail. Roland said it took six years to finally have the opportunity to be a Fair vendor, and he plans to come back every year.
“We do well. We get recognized. The opportunity there if you’re willing to put the work in,” Roland said. “For me it’s all about the people it’s about people seeing what we do. We’re a unique popcorn shop.”
The Fair is just one of nearly 40 different events Jazzy Gourmet Popcorn attends each year, according to Roland. He said that he’s thankful for the opportunity to keep this dream alive with his family at both brick and mortar stores while keeping up with the community at various venues and public gatherings.
“We’re busy all the time. We do a lot of stuff,” Roland said. “I’m glad we’re still open. I get to do what I like to do. This was my vision. Our tagline when you leave is, ‘have a jazzy day.’”
