Klondike Mike’s Garcia's Grill will be hosting a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Dec. 14 during the Colony Christmas festivities. New menu options will be available and the renovated dining area will be open for seating. The team at Klondike Mike’s and Garcia’s Grill is ready to provide a new dining option for downtown Palmer.
“We've got a really excited crew,” Manager Susan Timm said. “The excitement is in the air.”
There has been a soft opening for the new Garcia's Grill menu this week. Loyal customers to Klondike Mike’s have been coming in looking forward to the new menu for several weeks.
“The general consensus is that people are super excited about it,” Timm said. “It's been heavily anticipated.”
Garcia’s Cantina and Café was originally only located in Eagle River. Timm explained that the partnership between Klondike Mike’s and Garcia’s Grill was an answer to customers that wanted to have more options in the Valley. The opportunity presented itself and the timing was right to make things happen, according to Timm.
Klondike Mike’s and Garcia's Grill will remain open to people of all ages. The renovated dining room is available on one side and the bar will be open on the other. The dining room has been remodeled and redecorated to accommodate the new partnership. A new server station is also being finished to meet the growing needs of the restaurant.
Timm invites customers to pull up to a high-top table to watch an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) match or play a game of pool while enjoying a fresh plate of “chimis”.
“We've always got something going on,” Timm said. “We definitely try to stay as family friendly as possible.
There will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Local band Velvet La La will be providing live music at 10 p.m. To continue with the holiday festivities, Klondike Mike’s and Garcia's Grill will be participating in the Colony Christmas Battle of the Beverages competition with new cocktail recipes.
Operations will continue as normal, according to Timm. The location will continue hosting live entertainment and trivia nights. Timm explained that they would like to open the space for other businesses in the community to use. The plan is to host more holiday events in the coming weeks. Timm believes that the new ownership of Klondike Mike’s and partnership with Garcia’s Grill will be beneficial for the community.
“I think it's important to keep things growing in Palmer,” Timm said. “I think having some fresh faces in town is going to be a good thing and a new energy…coming with some new tasty vittles as well.”
Visitors new and old to downtown Palmer will now have a fresh new option for food in an old familiar location.
“Klondike Mike's has always been a staple in downtown Palmer,” Timm said. “We're just adding something more to the roster, and it's only going to get better.”
