Loving husband, father, grandpa, and brother JD was called home to the Lord on March 8, 2017, with his devoted family at his bedside after a short illness. His daughter Jeannie, a nurse came from California to care for her dad in his last days.

JD was born on February 25, 1937, to Doug and Harriette Perdew in Cucamonga, California. After serving in the U.S Navy, he worked as a police officer in Rialto, California.

Moving to Alaska in 1972, he worked for the state at Anchorage International Airport police as sergeant and was on the search and recovery dive team; Purcell Security Services; and retired in 1994 from the Department of Corrections.

Retirement was spent traveling and spending time at his favorite fishing spots with his best friend and wife of 47 years Bev. JD never met a stranger, and always had a kind word or joke to share. Rafting and gold panning adventures with his good friends Fred and Dawn Deiser of Wasilla, Alaska, added to his many stories, along with fishing trips out of Seward with longtime friends Jim and Diane Bates, also of Wasilla, Alaska.

JD is survived by his wife Bev of Wasilla, Alaska; son Mike (Janette) Perdew, daughters Carol (Marty) Petersen, Jeannie Perdew, all of California; sons Fred Cardwell of Virginia; Russel (Lucille) Cardwell of California and Ken (Gay Nel) Cardwell of Anchorage, Alaska; sister Anna Smith of Wyoming; and his brother Roy (Yaeko) Perdew of Tumbler Ridge, BC, Canada; his son in spirit Bill Lapinskas and his wife Marissa of Seward, Alaska; Seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left behind his special little friend Chica, his loyal support dog.

JD was preceded I death by his parents; and sister Letha.

JD’s family wishes to thank all their friends and extended family for reaching out to them during this difficult time. At JD’s request, no service is planned.
