Jeanne Wendt
Jeanne Wendt

Jeanne Wendt, 94, stepped across the threshold of eternity and into the presence of her Creator, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 1, 2016, at her home in Wasilla with her daughter Bev by her side. Jeanne was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Fred and Floy Nestlebush on June 25, 1922. She met her husband, Albert Wendt at her grandfather's resort on Big Birch Lake in Grey Eagle, Minnesota and they married in June of 1941.They lived in various states and had their first 3 children, Monte, Pat and Colleen, before moving to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1950 with the Corp of Engineers at Ladd Air Force Base. Their last 2 children, Bev and Ron were born in Fairbanks prior to statehood. She and her husband homesteaded on the Chena Hot Springs Road back when it was still a very undeveloped area. Throughout her life, Jeanne was an avid studier and teacher of the Bible and garnered students wherever she lived. Her vast knowledge of scripture and her walk with the Lord influenced many people throughout her long life, right up to the end. Her children never stopped learning from her and were so thankful for her faithfulness and fervent prayer for them throughout their lives. She inspired a legacy of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ to her 5 children and because of that testimony and influence they will be spending eternity with her in Heaven as well. It will be an awesome reunion! She was a gentle woman with a sweet spirit and will be missed so much by so many people. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents and brother; her husband, Albert and two sons, Monte and Ron. She is survived by her son, Pat, of Soldotna; and two daughters, Colleen of Forest Lake, Minnesota, and Bev of Wasilla.
