Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Jeff A. Waterhouse, 51, died Nov. 7, 2013, at his Wasilla residence from a glioblastoma brain tumor.
He was born Jan. 19, 1962, in San Gabriel, Calif. He graduated high school in 1979. He came to Alaska in 1988 and lived in Willow. He owned a sawmill —Waterhouse Woods. He enjoyed drawing, woodworking and making things out of birch wood.
According to his family, “Jeff was a unique man who enjoyed the world outside the window. He could tell you a date by where the moon was in the sky or how long the trees have been bloomed. He liked numerology and mining.”
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly (Waterhouse) Grlwicks.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Thomas Callahan of Durham, N.C.; father and stepmother, Ron and Sharon Waterhouse of Weaverville, Calif.; two sisters, Misty Young and Dana Zook; brother, Danny Zook; three daughters and son-in-law, Michelle Waterhouse of Cottenwood, Calif., Rachael and Andy West and Sunshine Hunsaker of Wasilla; four sons and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Jennie Waterhouse, Chamberlain Waterhouse, Talisan Waterhouse and Tyran Waterhouse, all of Willow; nine grandchildren, Jayden, Hailey, Jayley and Elizabeth Waterhouse, Kali, Taylor and Chase Thompson, and Skyler and Sarah West.
