Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Jeffrey Lynn Nail, born December 24, 1953 in Washington D.C., passed away October 1, 2016 at an assisted living home in Wasilla, AK after a long illness.
He received his GED while in the US Navy, receiving an honorable discharge. Soon after he went to live in Alaska. He enjoyed all the nature, hunting and fishing. One of his first jobs was working on a farm, milking cows. Later he joined the Labor Union working in many different places including Amchitka. He also worked on the great oil spill. He retired from the Union in the early 2000’s. He married Shiela Gail Johnson- years later they divorced.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey James Nail of Texas and his two children.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Melissa Lou Nail, she left three granddaughters; his father James Estes Nail; and two nephews.
He is survived by his mother Montie Lou Nail of Wasilla, AK, brother Jim (Sue) Nail, two nieces Jayme and Cora, and nephew Waylon Olson, sisters Tami Lou Carlson, and two nieces in Oregon Danielle and Alexa, and sister Tracey Nail of Palmer, AK and one niece Halee, and two nephews Austin and Dayne.
His ashes will be scattered at Hatcher Pass as requested.
