Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Jerry Lee Smart, 65, died Dec. 9, 2007 at Providence Hospital, Anchorage. A celebration of life will be held at his home on Dec. 15 beginning at noon.
Smart was born on May 25, 1942 in Oak Creek, Colo., and moved to Alaska in January of 1981. Smart was in the Navy and also employed in Tag Data Flow in Anchorage until 2004. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting and reloading and spending time with his family.
His family wrote: “Jerry was a loving father, husband and friend. He was known for his generous spirit and sense of humor. His compassion and love for life will be greatly missed.”
He is survived by his wife, Debra; brothers, Pete and Chuck; sister, Carol; children, Keirsten, Karie and Jennifer; and grandson, Christopher.
