Jerry Lee Monnin, 79, passed away on November 25th, 2023, at Providence Medical Center due to a heart attack. Jerry was born March 5th, 1944, in Pennsylvania to Betty & Pete Monnin. They raised him & his 3 brothers in Vero Beach, Florida, where he stayed until retiring from the Air force as a Vietnam Vet.

Jerry moved to Alaska while working for Sunset Construction, where he has remained for the last 50 years. Shortly after moving, he met the love of his life Susan Anderson, & the two got married. They had six children: Debbie, Cheri, Wendy, Jerry Jr. “Duffy”, Danny, & Joe. Thanks to his children, he is a Papa & Great-Grandpa to numerous kids. Funny family story: Jerry & his whole family were supposed to be Mingus’s. Nobody found out until Pete went to retire, Monnin was his father’s last name, but all of Pete’s mom’s kids had her maiden name. So instead of having everyone change their names to Mingus, Pete changed his name to Monnin. Even though Jerry did Construction for the majority of his life, he lived for his family and the small group of Friends he kept. Other than them, he loved hunting, fishing, raising livestock, & gardening. The family had a small Gathering to celebrate Jerry’s life with other family members & friends on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at the Monnin home.
