Jerry Ralph Arthur passed away peacefully on August 27th at Alaska Regional Hospital with his daughter Tana by his side. He was 81.
Jerry was born on September 24th, 1941, in Portales, New Mexico. The family moved to Hood River, Oregon, in 1944, graduating from WyEast High in 1958. He went on to college at Oregon College of Education obtaining his teaching degree. He met his wife Aedene while teaching in Oregon City. They were married for 53 years before her passing in 2020.
Jerry and Aedene traveled North after being offered teaching positions in rural Alaska. Their teaching adventures included Ruby, Tanana, Galena then made New Stuyahok their home for 8 years. They had 3 children. Elizabeth, Aaron and Tana. In 1982 they moved to Palmer where they stayed and raised their family and where they both retired.
Jerry was very involved in the community they loved. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Moose and Elks Lodge, a Shriner and proud and honored to be a Mason.
Jerry’s Celebration of Life will be on September 24th at the Moose Lodge at 2 pm. He will be dearly missed.
