Jimmy was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Healdton, Okla., son of Perry Edwin and Rose Lee (West) Moore.
He graduated from high school and attended East Central State College in Ada, Okla.
Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and first came to Alaska in 1959 and worked for Mobil Oil Co., where he helped build the oil pipeline. He also worked in Saudi Arabia for Mobil Oil Co. helping on the pipeline there. He also worked as a master boiler operator at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, where he retired in 1998.
Jimmy enjoyed doing outdoor activities his whole life. He loved hunting and fishing, and in his retirement enjoyed his grandchildren and looking at wildlife.
His family said he loved playing Santa for his grandchildren and enjoyed the Alaska adventure. He taught his family how to survive in the wilderness and said, “All you need are trash bags” to survive in the wilderness. Jimmy served his country with honor, but loved and served his family even more. He really appreciated a good SPAM sandwich and his fantastic meatloaf will be missed. He also enjoyed attending the Miners and Trappers Ball and won the Polar Bear beard contest numerous times and was Mr. Furface three times. His family said he didn’t need fancy; all he wanted was for everything he did to be functional.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Rita, of Wasilla; son, Edwin Moore of Wasilla; and grandson, Jason Moore of Sulton, Wash. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Robert and his wife Brenda Davila of Palmer, Raul Davila and his wife Alecia Chester of Wasilla and Ronica and her husband Curtis Holeman of Anchorage.
