Joan Elizabeth Hamacher passed away peacefully at home June 9, 2010, surrounded by family and friends.
Joan Elizabeth Stephan was born in Palmer on Oct. 16, 1941, to Carol and Harold Stephan. She was one of six children. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1959 and continued her education throughout her life.
Joan is remembered for her commitment to her friends and her community, her exceptional green thumb and her extraordinary needlepoint work.
Joan is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Leslie, son Daniel, grandchildren Dylan, Devon, Lilyanne and Sebastian, her sister Jerene and brother John.
She will be interred with her son Steven at Angeles Cemetery in Anchorage at a private ceremony.
She will be remembered at an all-day gathering beginning at noon Saturday at her home, 6514 Farm Loop Road in Palmer.
Her family extends an invitation to all friends who wish to attend.
