Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident JoAnn Clime, 69, died of lung cancer on Feb. 22, 2010, at the Mat-su Regional Medical Center.
A visitation will be held March 4 at Legacy Kehl’s Palmer Chapel from 1 to 5 p.m. A service will be held March 5 at the Pilgrims Baptist Church in Wasilla at 11 a.m., with a burial following at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Pastor Stan Tucker will officiate. Pallbearers are Rych Clime, Barry Moring, Previn Deveroux, Boyd Moring, William Olday Sr. and William Olday Jr.
JoAnn was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Sanford, Fla. In 1980, she became a resident of Alaska and lived in Juneau for a year. She worked at Amway in Miami, Fla., Cooperative Extension Services in Danielsville, Ga., Delmar in Athens, Ga., Friend’s Purity Bakery in Juneau, and she worked for the state of Alaska in Juneau and Anchorage.
JoAnn is a member of Pilgrims Baptist Church. She is also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Her hobbies included water color painting, crafts and crossword puzzles.
Her family wrote, “JoAnn’s beautiful spirit and devotion to the Lord touched the lives of those who knew her. Her artistic abilities were an inspiration to all.”
She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Alan; sons Bill Rogers of Milwaukie, Ore., Thorn Rogers of Carmel, Calif., and Rych Clime of Juneau; daughter and son-in-law Deanne and Barry Moring of Anchorage; grandchildren Amanda Rogers of Winterville, Ga., Jeremy and Taylor Rogers of Milwaukie, Ore., Kristen Kitchens Gilliam of Colbert, Calif., and Shelbie and Erica Moring of Anchorage; great-grandchildren Chloe Hutson of Winterville, Ga., Karleigh Gilliam of Colbert, Calif., and Alyssah Deveroux of Anchorage. JoAnn was also looking forward to the birth of her fourth great-grandchild in June.
