Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Alaska resident Joann Hilda Gindling, 84, our beloved mother, passed away May 26, 2015.
She was the wife of a World War II DIV No. 101 Marine Veteran. They were members of Knights of Columbus.
Joann was born July 12, 1930. She worked for Simmons Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana, for many years working alongside her mother. She also taught piano to the students and passed her talent onto her grandkids. She was an only child, but had five children to fill her life. She enjoyed sewing her little dress towels for others. She thought very fondly of her many loving caregivers and her family appreciated all their tenderness and care for her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert; her mother, Madeline, and her eldest son, Mark.
Joann was survived by her daughters, Christine Gindling, Stephanie (Ronald) Ruggeri-Wilkins; sons, Thomas (Maru) Gindling, Steve Gindling; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gindling; granddaughters, Kimberly Gindling, Jessica Demaree; grandsons Drew (Kimberly) Demaree, Matthew (Melissa) Gindling; great-grandchild, Emma Demaree; and extended grandchildren, and great-grandkids.
Arrangements were entrusted to Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel.
Into our Father’s hands she was taken.
