Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Joanne Schnare, 55, died June 28, 2012, at her home in Big Lake.
A celebration of Joanne’s life is at 3:30 p.m., July 5, at Valley Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Oathout will officiate the service. Ashes will be spread by the family throughout Alaska.
Joanne was born Sept. 7, 1956, to Robert and Veda Mulluk in Kiana. She was born and raised in the beautiful state of Alaska. She had moved to New Hampshire for a period of her life, but she came back to her home state and resided in Big Lake. Joanne worked on the slope and worked on the oil spill in Valdez. She worked on the USS Ogden and USS Deluth as a cook. Joanne enjoyed beading, commercial fishing, reading and had a passion for Marilyn Monroe. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Joanne always told her loved ones, “Love you, all my heart.”
The family wrote, “We will miss you so much, mom. She loved us with all her heart. We will remember her laugh and her loving nature. We always cared about you, mom, and we’ll miss you deeply. Things are never going to be the same without you.”
Her loving husband wrote, “She was my guide in life; I don’t know how I will get by without her.”
Surviving are her husband, Donald Feucht of Big Lake; son, John Hanifen of Kenai; daughters, Tazlina Feucht of Big Lake and Rowena Foster; daughter-in-law, Danyell Hanifen of Kenai; grandson, Brandon Hanifen of Mossy Rock, Wash.; sister-in-law, Margret Schnare of New Hampshire; brothers, Dwight Schnare of California, Gordan Schnare of California, and Oscar Mulluk, Hurman Mulluk, Randy Mulluk, Kevin Mulluk and Robert Mulluk, all of Alaska, Robert Mulluk III, and Charley Mulluk; sisters, Susan Schnare of New Hampshire, Maggie Sampson, Marry Jane Pungalik, Billy Mulluk, Bella Lee, Evalyn Mulluk, Vicky Winderly and Veda Ray Patterson of Alaska; and mother, Veda R. Mulluk of Alaska.
Preceding her in death was her father, Bob Mulluk; brother, Ronnie Mulluk; and nephew, Louie Joe Mulluk.
