Wasilla resident Joe Vanton White, 96, died peacefully of natural causes at home with his daughter and granddaughters by his side on Jan. 10, 2008.
Services and entombment will be today at Portland Memorial Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
White was born Feb. 20, 1911, in Glover, Okla. He came to Wasilla in 2002 having retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed roller-skating, bowling and square-dancing.
Surviving are his daughters Cinda Iversen of Wasilla, Ida Thurston of Bend, Ore., and Vallie Pugh of Woodland, Wash.; son Joe R. White of Aurora, Colo.; sisters Dovie Wheeler of Quincy, Wash., and Vivian of Cloudy, Okla.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Local arrangements were with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
