JOHN F. ROGERS

John F. Rogers, 68, died May 26, 2008 at home in Trapper Creek from cancer. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Trapper Creek Community Cemetery.

Rogers was born July 2, 1941 in San Francisco, living there until 1963. He worked at the Captain Cook Barber shop, Thrifty Barber shop and worked as a Sled Dog Tour Guide for Tokosha Mt. Lodge. He loved dog mushing, hunting, fishing and collecting.

“The world is a much lesser place with his passing,” his family wrote. “He was always willing to help no matter when and with what. We will miss his detailed stories. Trapper Creek will miss him as a neighbor, He was a Great Bones shooter and was the best shot with a bow and gun to ever shoot in Tommy’s yard. He rode a snow machine like he was born to do it. We will miss you John F. Rogers.”

Rogers is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Trapper Creek; daughters Terry Jean Forester of Anchorage and Cheryl Percey of New York state; sons Mike and Jeff Rogers, both of Anchorage; 12 grandchildren with another on the way; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bud Kirch; friends Terri Nakutis, Signi, Dexter, Tommy, Lorna, The Johns, Lon, Kevin, Darlene, Gator, Dave and Nay, Marisa and the Burrito Brothers and many more best friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hazel Rivera and Truck Rogers and his eldest son, John H. Rogers.
