A funeral for Mr. John “Jiggs” Ira Waters, 74, of LaPorte, Texas, was held at Saturday at the chapel of Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, Ala., with Rev. Clovis Lewis and Rev. Doug Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Barrytown Cemetery in Gilbertown.
Mr. Waters, passed away on Sept. 8 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas.
He served as a Marine in the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #17 in Anchorage, #7 in Palmer, #857 in LaPorte and he was a member of the Shriners in Alaska.
He is survived by one son John Waters, Jr. of Pasadena, Texas; two daughters, Maureen LaBlanc of Ocean City, N.J., Judith Lynn Waters Gallagher (Michael) of Pasadena, Texas; one sister Audrey Roussel of Thibodeaux, La.; and eight grandchildren Kirk, Renee, Daniel, Amy, Nathan, Stephen, Brandon and Ronnie. He was preceded in death by his father D. A. Waters, mother Eddie Mae McClenny Waters, and one daughter Debra Lynn Waters Surface.
