Lifetime Valley resident John L. Otcheck passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on Dec. 19, 2014.

Celebration of life is at 2 p.m., Jan. 10, at Big Lake Fellowship church, with a potluck to follow the service.

John was born May 3, 1948, to William and Eva Otcheck. The family moved to Alaska in 1951 to a homestead. John retired from Alaska Mill and Feed after 20 years and from the operations union after 24 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting, flying his plane, hunting, card games and spending time with his family and friends and hunting. John proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1971 as an aviation electronics technician on the USS Saratoga.

John is survived by partner, Debra Blair; sons, Jerry Lee Daves of Houston, Edward Davis and wife, Karla, of Palmer, John R. Otcheck and partner, Jennifer, of Big Lake; and Marie Davis of Big Lake; granddaughters, Jessica, Denna and Taylor; grandsons, Michael and Dakota; sisters, Shirley Tillet, Gladys and Jeremy Bunkei, Kathy and Rick Lysogorski; and brothers, Dale and Tana James.
