John Marshall Parks

John Marshall Parks was born on Oct. 15, 1947, and was raised in a large family in Washington, D.C., by his parents, Marshall Miller Parks, M.D., and Angeline Miller Parks. John died Friday, February 26, 2016 in Minnesota in the loving care of his sister, Ann, and brothers, James and Philip, and many family members. He will always be remembered for his generosity, positive thinking, laughter, and love of family and friends. In his generosity, John donated his body to the University of Minnesota Medical School Anatomy Program. His ashes will be returned to the family sometime during 2017 to then be interred at either Ft. Snelling in Minnesota or at Arlington National Cemetery outside of Washington, D.C. John served in the Air Force on the Presidential Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery during the Vietnam War.

John moved to Alaska during the early 1980’s and worked at Cal Worthington and Alaska Sales and Service before pursuing a career in Real Estate with Keller Williams Realty of Wasilla. John had a real knack at selling cars and homes and made many friends along the way. John moved from Anchorage to the Valley in 2004 in Settlers Bay where he lived on the tee box of the 16th hole with his friend and companion Windslow, his yellow lab who would greet all the golfers. John loved golfing, children, having friends over for some laughs and visiting. His contagious laughter and huge smile will be greatly missed. John is also survived by dear friends Dave and Marni Montegue and Alaskan family Larry and Bonnie Maulden, Andy and Betsy Ray, Sue Nowland and so many more. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for a later date in Wasilla.
