John Martin Schwulst passed away on the morning of December 18, 2020 in Providence Hospital of Anchorage.
John was born on July 20, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jack Schwulst and Elizabeth Bufka. John joined the US Marine Corps after graduating high school and served in the Korean War. He worked as a police office and later began working with the United States Postal service where he retired after 37 years of federal service. He was a proud member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, loved to dance, fish, watch all kinds of sports (he was a Packers Fan), and spend time with his family and friends during cook outs, karaoke, or just a good old fashioned get together.
John is survived by his wife, Hazel Schwulst; sons, T.C. Gilmore, Mark and Brian Schwulst; daughter, Kim Hackett; and step-daughter, Lillian Defreest. John had many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a few great, great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Susitna Post 9365, 301 East Lake View Avenue, Wasilla Alaska, on 27 Dec at 2 PM.
