John Peratrovich

John Wilfred Peratrovich Jr., 83, died Dec. 11, 2007, of natural causes at Edie’s House Assisted Living Home in Palmer.

A memorial service was held Dec. 17 at St. John By The Sea Catholic Church in Klawock.

Peratrovich was born May 19, 1924, in Klawock, the second of four children born to John and Edna (Willette) Peratrovich. He lived in Klawock until his father was lost at sea. That family tragedy caused his mother to no longer be able to care for him and he has resided in Palmer for the last 36 years.

Peratrovich worked seasonally as a cannery worker and he cooked for the crew on his father’s fishing boat. He liked rocking in his chair while watching television and going on outings with Hearts and Hands.

His family expressed heartfelt thanks to the Charles family for the 36 years of love and care they provided Peratrovich.

Memorial donations can be made to St. John By The Sea Catholic Church, P.O. Box 245, Klawock, AK 99925.

He is survived by brother Alva (Clara) Peratrovich of Klawock; and his care providers for the last 36 years, Forrest and Edie Charles of Palmer.

Arrangements were provided by Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary in Palmer.
