Alaska resident Johnny J. Bookout, 61, died May 29, 2011, at Granny’s Down Home Care in Wasilla.
A celebration of life service is planned at a later date.
Johnny was born Oct. 11, 1949, in Electra, Texas, son of Jacky Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Butler) Bookout.
Johnny’s family will remember him as someone who was ready and willing to do anything he could for anyone he met. He had a very big heart and a very great spirit. He greeted everyone with a smile and had a compassionate way about him that made people feel good. He found the bright side of everything. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, and he also enjoyed sketching and painting.
He worked in the oil fields when he was a young man and was a phenomenal auto body man who always took pride and worked hard in everything he did.
His grandchildren said, “He was the best grandpa I ever had and couldn’t ask for more.”
Surviving are his daughters, Dana Medford of Wasilla, Teresa Yow Burkburnett of Texas and Judy Bomar of Springfield, Ore.; and son, J.J. Bryant Electra of Texas. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
