Former longtime Valley resident Jon David Hobbs passed away due to complications of leukemia, Aug. 21, 2013 in Surprise, Ariz.
He was born Aug. 2, 1949, in Eau Claire, Wisc., to Lloyd and Ione Hobbs. He came to Alaska in the late ’70s to pursue a career in the telephone industry, working as a lineman, cable splicer and outside plant engineer. He took an IBEW retirement in 2002 and spent a lot of his time traveling by motorhome with his wife, Debbie (Thornlow) Hobbs, across most of the U.S. and wintering in their home in Arizona. They shared many memorable adventures together. Jon was a loving and generous husband, father and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Karen Hobbs.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 20 years, Debbie; his two children, Andrew (Laura) Hobbs and Patricia (James Gragg) Abdullah; former wife, Phyllis Hobbs; nephew, Bryan Hobbs and Bryan’s three daughters, Jen, Matea and Corinna.
At his request, no service is planned.
Jon was cremated at Regency Mortuary in Sun City, Ariz.
