Alaska resident Jose “Joe” Antonio Rosario, 75, passed away at home on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015.
Jose is survived by his wife, Carmen, of Alaska; son, Anthony (Dawn) Rosario of FL; granddaughters, Kelle and Erin of FL; grandsons, Devin and Austin of FL; son, Daniel (Debi) of AK; grandsons, Jaron and Lucas of AK; granddaughters, Adeleine, Julia, and Ali of AK; sisters, Anna, Iris, Elizabeth, Jane, Adria, Angelina, Martha; brothers, John, Rene, and Freddy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Mateo Rosario; mother, Francisca Montanez; brothers, Jose D., George, Jorge, and Juan.
Joe was born on Dec. 10, 1939, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He was a dedicated and proud military service member, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Joe worked as a truck driver in NYC’s Garment Center, from 1962-1977. He then worked as a Miami Dade bus operator from 1977-2000, where he received the Safe Driver Award. Joe was an honorable civil servant, treating those he served with the utmost respect while ensuring their safety.
Joe was a loving spouse, son, father, brother and friend. He was a proud family man, happily married for 52 years, while enjoying children, grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He epitomized the fun-loving “Life of the party,” known for his humor and hearty laugh as well as his “Joe-isms”. His love of his latin culture’s music and food was equaled by his love of fishing and diving, having spent countless hours in Florida and Alaska waters.
Joe was an admirable man. He will always be remembered and loved … he will forever be in our hearts.
