Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Joseph H. Kinsey Jr., 52, died at his home Feb. 11, 2012, in Wasilla.
Funeral services in his honor are at 11 a.m., Feb. 23 at Valley Funeral Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave., Wasilla. Joe will be buried at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery following the service.
Joseph was born Oct. 1, 1959, in Wichita, Kan., to Joseph and Jewel (Brazell) Kinsey.
Joe moved to Alaska in 1960 and lived in several areas of the state including, Anchorage, Eagle River, Soldotna, Sitka and Valdez before making his home in the Mat-Su Valley.
The family wrote, “Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a wonderful example of love, independence and determination. Joe enjoyed riding snowmachines, fishing, camping and racing. He also enjoyed celebrating family traditions with members of his family and friends. In the face of adversity, he worked tirelessly in finding the way to make the situation better. He did it his way and we loved him for it.”
Preceding him in death were his parents, Jewell Kinsey and Joseph H. Kinsey Sr.; and brothers, Gary Stunz and Timothy Kinsey.
Surviving are his sister, Renee Pond of Anchorage; sister, Allura Eagle of Bay City, Texas; niece, Kim Andrejack of Virginia; nephew, Michael Johnson of Houston, Texas; niece, DeAnna Aguilar of Bay City, Texas; niece, Allura Charlene Johnson of Bay City, Texas; and numerous great nephews and nieces, all of Bay City, Texas.
Valley Funeral Home and Crematory cared for the family.
