Joseph Malenowski

Joseph Stanley “Jose” Malenowski, 52, died Dec. 17, 2007, at his home in Wasilla following a long illness.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 26 at VFW Post 10252, 3105 Mountain View Drive in Anchorage.

Malenowski was born June 16, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas. He attended school in Roswell, N.M., and graduated from Goddard High School in 1973.

Malenowski moved to Alaska in 1973, where he was employed by the Juneau Court System. He also worked on the construction of the Alaska Pipeline and was employed as a school bus driver in Fairbanks and a longshoreman in Anchorage. He also lived in Talkeetna before making his final home in Wasilla.

Malenowski had many other jobs and hobbies, but prided himself in becoming a master gardener until his illness made it impossible. He loved Alaska and his hobbies included fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. Most of all, he loved riding his Harley.

He was a great artist and truly enjoyed photographing Alaska. He had a heart of gold and was the best tour guide one could have. He will be remembered for his fun-loving and caring attitude. He had a huge heart and enjoyed all the little things in life.

Malenowski is survived by his mother, Virginia Malenowski of Roswell, N.M.; sisters Virginia “Ginny” (Mitchell) Lyman of Anchorage and Teresa (Jim) Waugh of Roswell; many nieces and nephews; and the very special lady in his life, Robyn Martin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles.
