Longtime Alaskan Joseph William Fagg, 74, died of natural causes June 16, 2012, at the Homestead Assisted Living Home in Palmer.
Pastor Tori Hicks officiated at funeral services in honor of Joseph June 25 at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla. Full military honors were presented. Joseph will be buried at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Joseph was born Aug. 22, 1937, to Floyd and Ethel Virginia Fagg in Springfield, Ill. Joseph enlisted into the United States Air Force in March 1961 and entered a 20-year career that ended with retirement in 1981.
Joseph became a resident of Alaska in 1971. He lived in Anchorage from 1977 to 2001 and then made Wasilla his home from 2001 until his death. From 2002 to 2008, Joseph was the state of Alaska’s official “Santa Claus.” One of Joseph’s special interests was football.
Preceding him in death as his wife, Barbara Fagg.
Surviving are sons, Troy Flagg of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Trent Flagg and grandson, Hunter, of Wasilla; daughter, Tracy Spencer, her husband Sgt. Ronald Spencer and grandsons, Derek Tennant and Tyler Web of Anchorage; granddaughter, Tara Dutcher, her husband Senior Airman, Douglas Dutcher and great grandsons, Kayne and Trayton Dutcher of Mt. Home Air Force Base, Idaho.
Memorial donations in honor of Joseph may be made to: Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska, or Multiple Sclerosis Societies of America.
