Juana Velarde

On March 23, Juana Velarde, 62, died in Anchorage at Providence Hospital. She was born Oct. 9, 1945. On March 28, her husband, Don Anderson, 60, also died, in their home in Mission Hills, Wasilla. They were both very loved and will be greatly missed. Their home church, King’s Chapel, will have a double service Saturday at 11 a.m. The service will have a country western style flair with guitar music and also a Native dance will be performed in full Native fur and attire.

Pastor Daniel Bracken of King’s Chapel Wasilla, 1701 N. Lucille St. at the corner of Lucille and Spruce streets, will officiate the service. Following the service will be a potluck Celebration of Life reception at the church.

All their relatives, neighbors, friends and the many people they met at JoAnne’s Fabric Store in Wasilla (that was one of her favorite shopping spots), are invited. Everyone is welcome. Please come and share your stories with the family of how they impacted your life. Anyone who has pictures of either of them or any art work that she did, please call the church at 357-2065 or a friend 982-5607. For more details, you can also go to the obituary archives at the Anchorage Daily News. All donations, financial or otherwise, can be sent to the church they loved, King’s Chapel Wasilla.
