Judith Ann Eaken

Palmer resident Judith Ann Eaken, 64, past away on April 20, 2008 of heart and kidney failure at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.

A graveside service was on Thursday, April 24 at the Palmer Pioneer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rodney Eaken, Tom Hablett, Terry Steffenhagen, Chris Tibbets, Josh Wood and Doug Stocker.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at the Palmer Moose Lodge.

Judith Ann Eaken was born on Feb. 11, 1944 in Palmer. She graduated from Palmer High School and also attended college classes at University of Alaska Anchorage.

She was employed as a nurse, horse council secretary and a bailiff at the Palmer Courthouse.

She was of Baha’i faith and enjoyed Baha’i events, family events and horse shows.

Her family states, “Judy was the granddaughter of William and Lulubelle Bouwens who arrived in Palmer in 1935. She was a 1962 Palmer High School graduate. Judy was a good-hearted person who touched many lives in many ways. Her absence will be felt by many.”

She is survived by her son Rodney Eaken; daughters Karen Eaken and Benji Wood; grandchildren Alishia LaFave and Lily Wood; great-granddaughter McKenzie LaFave; sister Susan Herron; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Eunice Flint; her husband Loral (Zeke) Eaken; brother John Flint; and her grandson Brent LaFave.
