Judith Ann Root, 65, died Aug. 16, 2012, at home with her family in Wasilla after a battle with cancer.

She was born April 29, 1947, in Kissimmee, Fla. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla. Judi was a “GRITS,” which is a girl raised in the south. She went to Woody’s Hairstyling Institute, where she became a master beautician. She had her own beauty shop in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Her Husband, Leslie R. Root, a sergeant in the U.S. Army, was transferred to Germany.

While in Germany, she worked for the school system as a librarian. They then were transferred to Fort Richardson and Judi was employed as a librarian in 1984, and after that to the 6 11th AOG at Elmendorf AFB until she retired in 2009.

She loved the outdoors and did a lot of camping, fly fishing and kayaking. She loved music and her many, many friends. Judi was a loving mother and grandmother who really enjoyed family time. She had strong ties to Elmendorf Air Force Base and spent many hours volunteering and coordinating events there. She was a, as it says in Matthew 25, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” She was a member of Christ First Methodist Church in Wasilla.

Surviving are her parents, Gerald and D.J. (Pat) Rudd; son, Gary R. Root; daughter, Jinnifer (Root) Cushman; grandchildren, Sydni, Seth, Simon, Sawyer, Silas and Samantha Root, Jessica (Shoemaker) Devier and Lily, Grace, Jane and Lucy Cushman.

The family was taken care of by Legacy Kehl’s Palmer Chapel in Palmer.
