Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Judy B. Edgar, 67, of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., died June 10, 2010, at Sainte Genevieve.
She was born Dec. 16, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo.
She was first married to Clyde Hartz, who survives her in Crestview, Fla. She then married Earl Edgar, who proceeded her in death.
She is also survived by son Russell Hartz, Grover, Mo.; daughters Gina (David) Johnston, Chugiak and Tammy Hartz, O’Fallon, Mo.; brother Gene Kimmel, Lexington, Ky.; sisters Nancy (Charley) Huck, Sainte Genevieve, and Jerri Glaser, Sainte Genevieve; and seven grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by husband Earl Edgar; and father and mother Louis Kimmel and Thelma (Mathews) Kimmel.
Judy raised her family on a farm at Kimmel Lakes, Mo. She was a registered nurse at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital and at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Missouri. She then moved to Alaska to follow her love and a dream of adventure. She worked as a manager and supervisor at Palmer Valley Hospital for 16 years. In Alaska, she fished, hiked mountains, camped and loved life. Her children followed her to Alaska and they also found a life of great adventure. During her entire life she was a passionate artist. She painted, sculpted, wove baskets and made pottery. Her spirit was alive with art.
She was the best mom that anyone could ask for and a loving grandmother to seven children. She was very close to both of her sisters, who loved her dearly. Her family believes she will be with them in all their adventures to follow.
A family gathering was held at Kimmel Lake in honor of Judy’s life.
Services performed under the directions of Basler Funeral Home Inc., Ste. Genevieve.
