Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Juem (Susie) Adams passed away on September 11 in Houston, Alaska surrounded by her family. Susie was born January 15, 1940, in Kunsan City, Korea. She met Dale Adams in November 1959 in Korea and, after 2 ½ years, she returned to the United States with Dale as her husband. During this time, she traveled between military bases and overseas with her husband. Susie moved with her husband to Alaska and held multiple jobs working for the military hospital on Elmendorf AFB and the Upper 1 Restaurant at the Anchorage International Airport. She worked for the Mat-Su School District for 28 years. For 19 years she and Dale owned Alaska Sewing and Vacuum Center in Wasilla, Alaska. Susie and Dale were married for 64 years. She is survived by her husband, Dale Adams, and their three daughters: Jean Miller of Spokane, WA; Tammy Bennett of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and Patricia Bennett of San Antonio, TX. She has 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She loved her family, cooking, fishing, camping, and hiking. Her burial was held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at Big Lake Baptist Church, this Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m.
