Julia Lynn Grimmett

Julia Lynn Grimmett, 49, passed away July 24, 2014, at Mat-Su Regional Medial Center in Palmer surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 31, 1964, in Boulder, Colorado, and graduated in 1983 from Platte Valley Academy, Shelton, Nebraska. She then went to a truck-driving school and became a top-of-the-line truck driver, excelling above her male counterparts in many cases.

She moved with her three sons to Wasilla in the winter of 2007 where she continued driving trucks until she passed away.

Julia enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmachining and spending time with her family. Her grandson, LeeRoy, was the light of her life.

Julie was an amazingly strong and independent woman who chose to do it “her way.” She lived, loved and lost, but her greatest strength was the fierce love she had for her family through thick and thin.

She is survived by her three sons, Brandon Grimmett, Dylan Grimmett-Ferrell and Jordan Grimmett-Ferrell; parents, Joyce and Calvin Grimmett; brother, Calvin Dale Grimmett; sisters, JoDee Miller and Calli-Dawn Grimmett; grandson, LeeRoy Ferrell; and her soul mate, Travis Johnson.

Arrangements were entrusted to Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
