Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

June Marie Blankenship, 87, of Napavine, Washington, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Centralia Providence Hospital. June was born on June 26, 1929, to Ward & Julia (Parrish) Fountain, in Paradise, Montana.
A devout Christian, June was an active member of Napavine Baptist Church, where she was treasurer/secretary. She is survived by her four children: Judy Heidlebaugh (Jim), Kent, Washington; Denice Workman (Jim), Onalaska, Washington; Jackie Newman (Luis) & Damon Blankenship, Wasilla, Alaska; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren. Brothers: Robert Fountain (Sharon), Tullahomah, Tennessee; Donald Fountain (Erlene), Oceanside, California; Sister: Shirley Newlin (Ken) of Hutsonville, Illinois; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces & nephews.June worked tirelessly her entire life. As a young wife & mother, employment opportunities required many relocations, from Montana, to Washington State, to New Mexico, to Alaska.
She co-owned and operated several businesses, Arctic Rose Construction, Wasilla, Alaska, her last and most rewarding. She employed all 4 children, a granddaughter, their spouses and many in her community. Her “retired” husband, Jack, a skilled welder and fabricator, assisted behind the scenes. Throughout her busy life, she was mother to siblings, her children and grandchildren, retiring in Napavine, Washington. Finally! After retirement, she stayed busy with family, church, friends, the gym, and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Blankenship; brothers Archie and Earl Fountain; sister, Dorothy Everett; great-great grandson, Colter Church. Jason Saling, Pastor of Napavine Baptist Church, paid special tribute to his dear friend, during Easter services on April 16.
Friends are welcome to join the family in their celebration of life to be held at
1 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Doss Cemetery in Mossyrock, Washington. Her friend and former Pastor of Fairview Loop Baptist Church, Tom Hoffman of Wasilla, Alaska will be officiating, a reception will follow at The Salkum Fire Hall.
