Karen Ann Lason

Palmer resident Karen Ann Lason, 64, died of natural causes, Jan. 9, 2008, at home. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Salvation Army Chapel in Palmer, with a potluck to follow.

Lason was born July 11, 1943 in Bellingham, Wash. She came to Alaska in 1988, and had resided on Afognek Island and in Palmer. She was employed at Mat-Su Regional Home Care and Hospice from 1995 to 2007, and had worked with Alzheimer’s patients.

Family members wrote, “She was a caring, nurturing person who always had a smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Jessie Plattner; spouse, Claude “Corky” Lason; son Kim Lason; and sister Judy Lason. Survivors are sons Bruce W. Lason and Tracy R. Lason of Lake Stevens, Wash., and Jeff L. Lason of Palmer; daughter April Lason of Seattle; grandsons Damien M. Lason, Ty T. Lason and Russell W. Lason; granddaughter Lindsey Lason; great-grandson Eugene Lason; and sisters Linda Dittenber of Everett, Wash., Marlene Blockley of Deming, Wash., and Nora Plattner of Bellingham.

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel & Crematory.

NORA L. BURTON

Nora L. McGuffey Burton, 68, of Palmer, died Feb. 16, 2008, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.

No services are planned.

Burton was born April 10, 1939, in El Paso, Texas. She was a homemaker. She moved to Palmer in 2005 to be closer to family. Her special interest was her children and grandchildren. Her family stated she was from a longtime upper farm family in El Paso.

Survivors are her son William Michael Burton of Palmer; daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter Katherine Lee Shannon, Claude Shannon and Jessica Lee Shannon of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughter Nancy Ruth Burton, granddaughter Rachel Cheyenne Maxwell, and grandson Michael Jasper Maxwell of Alpine, Texas.

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Wasilla.
