Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mrs. Fontenot, age 83 died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 at her Wasilla, Alaska home- where she wanted to be with her loving husband and best friend, Bryan when the time came. She is survived by her husband Bryan Fontenot of over 44 years. Her sons: Douglas Burdick & his wife Brenda and their children; Jamie, Jennifer, Colt and Eric & 5 great grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Erin, Tyler & Abby. And her son Lony Burdick, his wife Rhonda and their daughter Kris Rhoades, her son Adrien Tucker and his wife, Violette, Kathy’s sister Gerry & husband Harold Baque of Opelousas, Los Angeles; sister Melody Gilcrease of Scott, Los Angeles, nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pierre and Hilda Darbonne, her sister Brunella Fruge; her brother, Hubert Darbonne; her brother Joseph “Buddy” Darbonne, her son Barth Eric Burdick, nieces Toni and Patty Andrus, nephew Jody Darbonne.
She will be greatly missed by all family and friends too great in numbers to count & all who knew her loved her.
Kathy asked that there be no viewing and that there be a memorial service held for friends and family to attend at the Sunny Knik Church in Wasilla, Alaska that she and Bryan attended. Kathy wished to be cremated & her ashes spread on the Kenai River.
The family would like to send special thanks to all those who share in the loss of this wonderful wife, mother & friend such a gentle soul and a loving heart.
