Kay P. Briggs, 77, died March 23, 2015, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer with her daughters at her side.
She was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Stamford, N.Y., to Harold and Alice (Westfall) Puffer.
Dale and Kay Briggs were married and moved to Palmer in 1959 to seek adventure, which brought them to the Matanuska Valley.
Kay enjoyed life — everything from dog mushing and softball, to golf and bowling.
It was a source of pride for Kay to help the do-it-yourself plumber during the time she worked at Mac’s Plumbing. Many Valley homes still have plumbing systems she helped to design.
She owned and ran The Valley Pro Shop when the bowling alley opened in Wasilla. She retired from Palmer Produce.
She was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church and enjoyed her time working in the kitchen at the church.
“Throughout her life she worked hard to make a difference in our lives, the community, in lives of others and anyone with whom she crossed paths. She especially enjoyed making a difference in the lives of children. Everybody knew her by her laugh. Her laugh and sense of humor were infectious,” her family said.
Survivors include daughters, Cindy and Jim Walker, Susan and David Hubbard and Sharon and Mark Jackson; grandchildren, Brian, Joseph, Pamela, Tylia, Britni and Megan; several great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Raymond in New York; and sister in-law, Alice Puffer in Florida.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale A. Briggs; brothers, Kenneth and Ralph Puffer.
No services are planned, per her request.
