Kaye E. Smith

Kaye E. Smith, age 77, passed away on Aug. 27, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Helena, Montana, to Dean and Lillian Bailey. Kaye married her High School sweetheart, Harvey Smith. She worked at the Internal Revenue Department for the State of Montana while raising three children. After many years of enjoying family and friends in Montana the Smiths moved to Alaska where Kaye worked for both ATU and MTA as a Rates and Tariff Specialist, retiring in 2002. Soon after the Smiths retired to Las Vegas, Nevada. Kaye truly lived life to the fullest, always surrounded by a big family and many good friends. She loved to garden, growing the most beautiful roses, loved her canines, and rock ‘n’ roll. She was an avid water and snow skier and loved to snow machine on Alaska trails. She loved to entertain and at points in the evening she would love to turn up the music and sing along. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kaye is survived by her husband, Harvey Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; son and partner, Steve Smith and Linda Hagen of Las Vegas, Nevada; son and daughter-in-law Kent and Ina Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Therese and Steve Gochanour of Wasilla, Alaska; sisters, Diane Sheridan and Linda Schild; grandchildren, Billy, Kaylin, Sean and Kylia; great grandchildren Austyn, Taelor and Sage. She is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Bailey. A celebration of life took place at Kaye’s home in Las Vegas on Aug. 30, 2017.
