Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Kedo Ketelsen, 91, died Oct. 31, 2012, with his wife of 70 years by his side.
A celebration of life is at 1 p.m., Nov. 2 at the Wasilla Senior Center.
Kedo was born in Huron, S.D., on May 3, 1921. He married Lois on April 18, 1942. He met her in Huron, where they shared many activities together, including pheasant hunting, gardening, golfing, walking and raising their four children. He served as a medic for the Marines in World War II. He then worked for Standard Oil for 37 years. Kedo and Lois retired to Alaska for new adventures.
Preceding him in death was his son, Thomas Ketelsen.
Surviving are his wife, Lois of Wasilla; son, Jim (MJ) Ketelsen of Vancouver Island, Canada; daughters, Diane (Rudy) Demoski and LeAnn Marquard, both of Wasilla; daughter-in-law, Florence Ketelsen of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brodie, Candis (Isaac), Amanda (Artie), Tanna (Doeun), Jenna, Tori and Kirbi; and great-grandchildren, Kyra, Kaelyn, Brenton, Kaia and two on the way. Kedo was very committed to his family. His granddaughters described him as a beautiful man. He always had a helping hand, whether making Christmas chocolates for hundreds of kids or delivering newspapers to fellow residents at the Wasilla Senior Center.
