Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

A celebration of life for Wasilla resident Kenneth H. Daniels, 78, will be Feb. 28, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum.
Mr. Daniels died Feb. 13 at his Wasilla residence with his family by his side. He was born in Ketchikan on Dec. 4, 1931, to Sam and Winifred Daniels. Mr. Daniels served in the Army from 1952 to 1960 and was stationed at Ft. Richardson.
He had worked for Ricks Helicopters in San Francisco from 1955 to 1957. He then worked for Alaska Helicopters from 1957 to 1959. He worked for the Alaska Department of Public Safety from 1959 to his retirement in 1990. He also worked for Mark Air in Kodiak.
He was a member of the Alaska Pioneers and OX5 Aviation Pioneers. According to his family, “He loved airplanes, flying and hunting, but most of all he loved to share a funny story or joke with family and friends.”
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen L. Daniels of Wasilla; three daughters, Steph Daniels of Anchorage, Karen Lange of Palmer and Colleen Forbes of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Jeff Daniels of Anchorage and Brad Daniels of Oregon City, Ore.; one brother, S. Laland Daniels of Seattle; one grandson, Daniel Lange of Palmer; and granddaughters, Courtney Smith of Anchorage, Janine Lange of Palmer, Sabina Forbes and Abigail Daniels both of Portland, Ore.
