Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Kenneth M. Jackson, 80, passed of multi-organ failure on Dec. 15, 2016, at Angeles University Foundation Medical Center, Angeles City, Philippines.
Mr. Jackson was born on July 31, 1936, in East Alton, Illinois, to Russell Lee Jackson and Alice Mae Bankus. In his younger days, he worked on the family farm and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Jackson joined the Air Force in 1954 and served as a weatherman and later transferred to load master on various cargo planes. He later joined the Navy as an equipment operator in the Seabees. Kenneth was a veteran of the Vietnam War, earning various medals. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the military never left him, as friends and family will attest. His children and grandchildren have served and are currently serving in our country’s military, carrying on the family tradition.
He is preceded in death by his father Russell Lee, his mother Alice Mae and his brothers Wayne and Neil.
He is survived by his five children, Kenneth M. Jackson JR., Rosa Anna Jackson, Karen Jo Harvey, James Lee Jackson and Michele Tennis; nine grandchildren, Jared Allan, Evan Shane, Spencer Chase and Alicia Holley, Jon-Erik Michael, Bill, Nicholas, and Heather Fermina; three great grand children, Cullan Benjamin, Heath, and Ronan Chase; six step children Eric and Eloida Beronilla, Erwin Beronilla and Diana White, Elejan Rose Beronilla, and Ernan Beronilla; nine step grandchildren Eldric Jon, Eva Andrea, Emil Carl, Elie Anna, Alina Michelle, Aldrin, Alex Loomis, Austin, and Bella Holley.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary and he will be interred in a family plot at Forest View Cemetery.
