Knights sweep team titles at Homer track meet

The Colony Knights swept the team titles during the Homer Invitational track and field meet in Homer April 17-18.

The Knights finished 190 total points in the girls team standings. Annelise Larsen led Colony with a pair of wins. Larsen placed first in the 200 meters with a time of 27.91 seconds, and was also first in the 400 at 1:01.24. Morgan Aisnworth, Clara Sensabaugh and Aubrey Virgin also won events. Ainsworth was first in the 800 at 2:36.74. Sensabaugh won the 1,600 with a time of 5:36.93. Virgin won the 3,200 with a time of 12:27.95.

Ainsworth added a second-place finish in the 1,600. Halie Sandstrom placed second in the high jump. Dominique Porter (high jump) and Kyanna Link (long jump) added third-place finishes.

The Colony girls were also second in the 800-meter relay, and third in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

Colony won the boys class with 220 total points.

Theodore Stamoolis, Banyan Smyth, Connor Rush and Hunter Belliston combined to win the boys 3,200 relay for the Knights. Travis Saari helped lead Colony with an individual victory in the 400 with a time of 52.74. Kenneth Hopkins (400), Trygve Vang-Thompson (3,200), Maverick Rodriguez (high jump) and Clark Beling (long jump) each placed second. Hayden Shafer (100), Gabriel Black (3,200), Jaylin Williams (110 hurdles) and Brycen Lindstrom (high jump) all finished third.

The Colony boys were also second in the 400, 800 and 1,600 relays, and third in the 400 relay.

Jewel Gardner led Wasilla with a first-place finish in the girls 300 hurdles, and a time of 51.59. Gardner was also second in the 100 hurdles. Claire Bredberg (shot put) and Sadie Palmer (long jump) were also second. Josie Schrecengost was third in the 300 hurdles.

Gabriel Carey led the Wasilla boys with a third-place finish in the 800.
