WASILLA — Knik Pizza, located just off the Parks Highway near the Clock Tower in downtown Wasilla, is still open during the ever changing COVID-19 situation. They’re currently offering “contact-free” service, taking numerous cautionary measure to help slow infection rates.
Since Knik Pizza operates as a takeout and delivery only establishment, social distancing measures hasn’t done much damage to their overall business, according to manager Dakota Ashburn. This isn’t the case for many other restaurants across the Valley.
“There’s never more than 10 people here anyway… We really haven’t been affected as much as those sit down restaurants,” Ashburn said. “We’ve already hired someone from IHOP.”
Employees have increased their sanitation efforts, following the CDC’s recommendations. Ashburn said they’re working to mitigate as much potential exposure as possible with their “contact-free” services, meaning customers pick up their food on the front porch and are asked to use cards over the phone if possible.
If customers have to use cash, they’re asked to leave it on the front porch and a staff member will make the exchange. Ashburn noted that customers should avoid crowding up front and wait in their cars if someone is already on the porch.
Knik Pizza’s hours of operation are currently: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1 to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
