LaDonna Scheel
LaDonna Scheel, age 58, of Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Alaska, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. LaDonna was born on March 18, 1963 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Aubrey Best and Carole Helton.
She spent the beginning of her life in the flat desert lands of East New Mexico and West Texas. In 1999 she moved herself and Brittany to Alaska to spend much needed time with her dad, step mom, and younger brothers. Since that fateful day, you could not convince her to live outside that picturesque beauty. That is, until all her grandchildren were moved elsewhere in the more recent years.
She met her husband Mike in 2004 the same day Brittany left home. You could fill a book with photos from their travels together enjoying their new life, from Las Vegas, to New York, to Hawaii and a Caribbean cruise. They built a beautiful home within view of Hatcher’s Pass, which she stared at through her window every day. She may not have been a fan of the icy conditions, but she sure loved to see the earth covered in snow.
On any given Sunday, during football season, you could find her glued to the Cowboys game. Screaming and cheering as if life depended on the outcome. She even got to attend a game in Seattle with her brother Buddy before he passed, as well as a home game in Dallas against the Green Bay Packers with Brittany. A literal die-hard Dallas fan, she use to record the games she had to work through, and warned all her customers they better not talk about it because she was going to watch it as soon as she got home.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Best of Hobbs, NM; and brother, Buddy Best. She is survived by her husband, Michael Peter Scheel of Wasilla, AK; Mother, Carole Ann Helton of Hobbs, N.M; Bonus Mother, Yvonne Mona Best of Hobbs, N.M.; daughter’s, Amanda Jouett, and Brittany Bra; grandchildren, Michael and Tayler Wood, Dorian and Judyth Osgood; siblings, Gary O’Dell, Jonetta Best, Dan Hedgpath, Scott Best, Kevin Best; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.
Memorial services will be held March 5, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Vinyard Chapel.
