Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Larry “Butch” Hill II, 49, passed away suddenly Sept. 30, 2014, of natural causes at home in Anchorage.
He was born Feb. 20, 1965, in Niagara Falls, New York, then while still young moved to Alaska with his family. He moved first to Ketchikan in 1971 for five years and then moved to Palmer in 1976. He made the Palmer and Anchorage areas his home for many years until his passing.
Butch graduated from Palmer High School in 1983 and started his life as an accomplished Journeyman in the Plumbing and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning career fields, first with Mac’s Plumbing in Palmer and final employment at KSK in Anchorage.
He is survived by a young son, Brody Jack Hill; daughters, Hope and Tanner Hill; his parents, Larry and Emily Hill of Palmer; Cheryl and Dan Colliver of Oregon; sisters, Brandy and Ed Foley of Oregon, Veronica and TJ Snell of Alaska, Robin and Jim Kannasto of Oregon and Cheri and Ray Anderson of Alaska; and many nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins in Alaska, Oregon and across the U.S.
During his short life, he had a long relationship with Jody Granholm and her two daughters, Hope and Tanner.
Per his request, there will be no memorial or funeral services. His ashes will be spread over the Alaska mountains. He loved the outdoors and was always at peace when in the quiet of the mountains.
