Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Larry Dean Cole, 58, died July 1, 2014 in Ketchikan.
He was born Aug. 6, 1955, in Colorado and attended school in Anchorage.
He was a jack of many trades and worked as a commercial fisherman, in construction, and as a garbage man.
He moved to Ketchikan from Wasilla in December 2013
“Larry Cole was a loving partner, son and father,” his family writes. “He was happy to spend his final days in Ketchikan. He made his bed every day, liked to read and spend time with his girlfriend, Kris. He loved his family and friends.”
He is survived by his girlfriend, Kris Moore of Ketchikan; mother, Emma Jean Thompson and stepdad, Bill of Mississippi; daughter and son-in-law, Jolin and Kenneth Luna of Mississippi; son, Dane Cole who is serving with the U.S. Coast Guard in Texas; brothers and sisters in-law, Dale and Brenda Cole of Anchorage and Tim and Melissa Thompson of Mississippi.
His remains were cremated and ashes will be scattered in the Wrangell Mountains.
