Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident, Lawrence “Larry” Evanson, 75 died at home in Wasilla on Oct. 12, 2010, peacefully at home surrounded by family.
A celebration of life was celebrated already by family and friends. Larry was born on Oct. 23, 1934, in Sequim, Wash. He graduated in 1952 at Sequim High School. Larry became a resident of Alaska in 1996. He was employed by Fred Bower Station with the city water works in Sequim, Larry also worked for Jakes Drywall in Wasilla for 11 years and Weyerhaeuser in Longview, Wash., for 10 years. He was a member of the North Pacific Grain Growers for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife Laura “Janie” Evanson of Wasilla, daughters Justina Evanson of Woodland, Wash., Tammi Page (Tracy) and son Jay (Darlene) Evanson both of Kalama, Wash., two step sons: Timothy Ward of S. C., and Anthony Hutton of Austin, Texas, two step-daughters: Michelle Kirk of Kalama, Wash., and Terry Jane Jackson of Florida, numerous nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Larry enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends, photography, seeding the birds and his dogs.
“Dad, we’ve had many memories, but I loved just spending time with you the most! Love your daughter, Tammi.
Dad, thanks for all the memories, I wouldn’t have changed any of it for the world.
