Lawrence “Larry” Warren Holt, 54, of Houston, died unexpectedly May 6, 2011, at his residence.
A visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, May 13, at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check Street in Wasilla. His cremated remains will be scattered at a later date in Winchester Bay, Ore., where his father, Donald, was also scattered.
He was born Dec. 23, 1956, in San Jose, Calif., to Donald Warren and Barbara Helen Holt. Larry was a journeyman painter for 25 years and he worked all over the state and Lower 48, from Washington to Hawaii.
His family wrote, “Larry was a big-hearted guy who sure could make you laugh. He struggled with his addictions, but he loved his family and did the best he could. When health allowed he enjoyed being with his kids and grandkids. They kids could always count on Grandpa Larry having a pack of fruit snacks! Though we are heartbroken, we all know, as the Bible tells us, we will all be together again someday. Until that time, he will be terribly missed.”
Larry was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and was an amazing artist. He also loved to read, especially Louis L’Amour.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Vicki Lynn Holt of Houston; son, Anthony Warren Holt of Wasilla; daughter, Kimberly Anne Short of Wasilla; grandchildren, Gabreal Warren Short, Kiowa Rain Holt and Ruby Lynn Short; mother, Barbar Necessar of Kansas City, Mo.; brothers, Jim Holt of Kansas City, Mo., and Don Holt Jr. of Arkansas; and sister, Linda Baily of California.
Preceding him in death were his father and infant son. Arrangements were entrusted to Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
